It is the first commercially operated high-speed magnetic levitation line in the world. Currently the world’s fastest train in regular commercial services, the top operational commercial speed of this train is 431km/h (268mph), it’s faster than the top speed of any Formula One car!

Did you know Shanghai is the largest city by population of China and the largest city proper by population in the world? The two Chinese characters in the city’s name are 上 and 海, together meaning “Upon-the-Sea”. During the Tang Dynasty Shanghai was literally on the sea, hence the origin of the name.
Today it shimmers and seduces at first sight, it’s blinding grandeur freezing the gaze and raising the pulse. Looking deeper still, the cracks of this city reveal a much darker side, and when all the neons shut off at a routine 10:30 close we are trained to find our way inside again and away from the cold.

大澳 Tai O
Tai O is a fishing village located on the western side of Lantau Island in Hong Kong. Also known as the “Venice of Hong Kong”, as the village is situated mostly on the banks of the river. The houses in Tai O are mostly squatters huts and dilapidated stilt houses, some are newly constructed and some are all torned down. Tai O is also known for its dried goods, such as salted fish, dried sea cucumber, shrimp paste and etc.
This unique village captures a different way of life in Hong Kong. A mellow escape from the madness of the city.
