再見 See you again

When we think of ‘home’ we most often see the image of an apartment or house, physical things to call our own.  When this reality is dissolved into thin air we begin to redefine our ground somehow.

In the case of our Hong Kong living, it was the people.  For a moment in time we’re home due to their kindness and warmth.  We have learned to value the people in our lives more than ever, thank you.

Cat like
Such a joy to find a patch of sun leaking from behind the buildings…the only logical thing to do was to sit down and soak it up!  In this dense city, these can be rare so I enjoy every second.

九龍寨城 Kowloon walled city

Kowloon Walled City was a densely populated, largely ungoverned settlement in Kowloon, Hong Kong. It was a military fort for hundreds of years, but later became a very dense settlement. In 1980, the city had about 35,000 people on about 20,000 m² of land, making it one of the most densely populated places on earth. From the 1950s to the 1970s, it was controlled by Triads (Chinese gangsters) and had high rates of prostitution, gambling, and drug use.

Kowloon Walled City was torn down in 1993, and a park called Kowloon Walled City Park was built in 1994.

Honoring Opa

Sadly, the dear spirit of my Opa has now parted with this lifetime.  On this day I found myself in the mountains of Taiwan meditating on the mist which seems to dance with the tree tops, it is the kind of sight I know would bring him much joy.
